Trailing 65-43 at the half, a furious Wizards rally came up short as they dropped a 99-96 decision in Detroit.

Bradley Beal led Washington with 17 points, while big men Nene and Kevin Seraphin combined for 29 points and 15 rebounds against the powerful Pistons frontcourt. Detroit’s new twin towers of Andre Drummond and former Georgetown star Greg Monroe did some serious damage of their own, combining for 27 points and 21 rebounds.

Washington is in Cincinnati tonight, no, not to take on the Royals, but the Cleveland Cavaliers. For those under 50, there use to be an NBA franchise in Cincinnati named the Royals, they moved to Kansas City becoming the Kings and ultimately to Sacramento. Tonight’s game is at 7pm EST and as best I can tell, is only on NBA League Pass. That is if you aren’t watching game one of the World Series.

The Wizards return to Detroit next week for the regular season opener.
