Last season, on their way to the Southeast Division title and eventual NBA crown, the Heat went 15-1 in divisional play. Miami’s only loss coming to the Wizards in December. It is only preseason play, but Tuesday night at the Verizon Center, Washington did it again, beating the Heat handily 100-82.

Washington had four players in double figures, led by shooting guard Bradley Beal with 29 points. Beal shot 10 for 15 from the floor, including four of eight from long range. The Wizards matched the Heat on the boards, despite playing without Nene, Emeka Okafor, Chris Singleton and rookie Otto Porter in the frontcourt. Miami also had four players in double figures, led by Dwayne Wade and Shane Battier with 14 points apiece.

The victory was the first for the Wizards in preseason play, while the Heat suffered their first loss. The Wizards return to action on Thursday night against the New York Knicks in Baltimore.
