Where: Fed Ex Field

When: 4:30 PM

TV: NFL Network

Radio: ESPN 980

Point Spread: Redskins (-4)

Injury:
We know quarterback Robert Griffin III will not play until at least the season opener next month.
Nose tackle Barry Cofield injured his hand last week and will play with a cast/club in the opener.
QB Kirk Cousins (foot), WR Donte Stallworth (hamstring), WR Leonard Hankerson (knee), WR Aldrick Robinson (thigh), RB Chris Thompson (shoulder) and RB Keiland Williams (knee) are others on the injury report.

Week three of the pre-season is the closest thing you will see in game play to the regular season. Any regulars will see little, if any action in the final preseason game next weekend.

Position battle update:

QB- Rex Grossman went a long way towards securing his job as the backup, backup last weekend. Pat White will need a miracle at this point, or an injury to one of the others.

RB- At this point Evan Royster is the closest thing to Alfred Morris should the starter go down. Unless the team keeps four running back, it may be a battle between the two rookies for a spot on the practice squad.

WR- Five positions appear to be set, a battle remains for a sixth spot, if there is one.

TE- Team appears ready to keep four and health remains the main issue.

OL- If the team keeps nine offensive lineman, keeping four developing options remains the plan, in my opinion. Adam Gettis, Josh LeRibeus, Tom Compton and Xavier Nixon remain potential starters and improving backups.

DL- The Cofield injury adds to depth problems along the defensive line. With Adam Carriker’s injury and Jarvis Jenkins suspension, Phillip Merling could end up being one of the most important, under the radar additions. If Cofield at Chris Baker end up spending time at end, Ron Brace could be the benefactor.

LB- Keenan Robinson’s injury and Rob Jackson’s suspension happened early enough to give the team ample opportunity to find alternative options. Nick Barnett will add nice depth when healthy, while Darryl Tapp and rookie Brandon Jenkins will hold the fort until Jackson returns in week six.

DB- We are one week away from Tanard Jackson’s potential return. Will the season ending injury to Phillip Thomas create a spot for him? Will Chase Minnifield make the 53? If he does, that mean the team keeps six cornerbacks?
