The Washington Nationals AFL Prospect Update

The Washington Nationals eight prospects are assigned to the Mesa Solar Sox.  Mesa has been playing quite well in their first seven games, posting a 6-0-1 record.  Nats prospect OF Steve Souza helped Mesa stayed undefeated last night with a 1 for 3 night and 2 RBIs as Mesa Peoria 3-1.  Mesa remains the only team in the six team league without a loss.

Here are the current stats through seven games of the Nats’ prospects.

OF Brian Goodwin:  Goodwin has played in 4 games and is batting .333 (6-18) including a .400 on base percentage and a .444 slugging percentage.  He has 2 doubles, 2 runs, 2 RBI, and a stolen base.

C Adrian Nieto:  Nieto has appeared in 3 games and is batting .300 (3-10)  .  He has a .385 on base percentage and a .400 slugging percentage.  Nieto has 1 double, has scored 2 runs and drive in 1 run.

3B Matt Skole:  Skole has played in 3 games and is batting .273 (3-11).  He has a double and a home run.  Skole has scored 3 runs and drive in 3 runs.

OF Steve Souza:  Souza played in his 3rd game last night and is batting .364 (4-11).   He has a .500 slugging percentage and a .455 on base percentage.  Souza has 1 double, 1 run scored and has knocked in 5 runs.

P Sammy Solis:  Solis is off to a razor sharp start in his first 2 starts.  Solis is 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA in which he has tossed 7.2 innings, allowing just 1 run on 6 hits.  He has walked 2 and fanned 10 batters.  He has a WHIP of 1.17.

P Matt Purke:  Puke has made one start and did not permit an earned run.  He allowed 2 hits and 1 walks while he fanned 2 over 3 innings.  He has a WHIP of 1.00.

P Robert Benincasa:  Benincasa has appeared in 2 games from the bullpen.  He is 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA.  In 2 innings of work, he has allowed 3 hits, 1 walk, 2 runs, and has 2 strikeouts.

P Richie Mirowski:  Mirowski has appeared in 2 games and has not allowed a run or a hit.  He has recorded 2 strikeouts.
