Maryland used a 29-0 run to end the game in a 67-40 win over Abilene Christian on Wednesday night at the Comcast Center.

Jake Layman scored 14 of his 19 points after intermission as the Terrapins trailed much of the game, including 30-29 at the break. Charles Mitchell had 15 points off the bench as the Terps improve to 1-1 on the season.

Freshman Roddy Peters started at point guard, as Coach Mark Turgeon used the opportunity to get him more game experience. Nick Faust also received a start, with Layman moving to the bench.

ACU which moved to Division One this season, missed their last 18 shots from the floor.

The Terps will be long gone to the Big Ten, but the ACC tournament is returning to DC in 2016.

The early signing period is underway and Maryland’s 2014 recruiting class is ranked as high as second nationally. Three of the four commitments officially signed their paperwork today, the fourth and final expected on Friday.

Maryland hosts Oregon State on Sunday night at 6pm on ESPNU. Could President Obama be at the Comcast Center? His brother in law, Craig Robinson, is the Beavers Head Coach. The President and First Lady did travel to Towson to watch Oregon State play two years ago.
