Maryland basketball arrived in the Virginia Islands in advance of the Paradise Jam tournament. The team was scheduled to attend a “Welcome Party” on Thursday night with other participating schools.

In addition to Marist, Maryland’s opening opponent, other teams include; Northern Iowa, Loyola Marymount, Providence, Vanderbilt, Morgan State and LaSalle. Single elimination will determine the champion, but all teams will play three games in four days. Tournament bracket right here for you.

Roddy Peters is expected to get the start at point guard, as Coach Mark Turgeon looks to solidify the position until Seth Allen returns in January. The DIamondback has a deeper look at the potential move. Turgeon plans on spending much of the six day trip working on team defense. The Terps will also focus on building camaraderie. much like their summer tour of the Bahamas.

The Terps open up against Marist on Friday @ 4pm, carried live on the CBS Sports (Cable) Network.

As for Maryland football, or bowl eligible Maryland football as every story now calls the team… According to my friend Jeff Barker at the Baltimore Sun, the AdvoCare V100 Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana has an interest, as does their likely bid, the Military Bowl in Annapolis.
