Three weeks after demoting him to Triple-A, the Nationals have recalled relief pitcher Drew Storen.

Storen struggled at Triple-A Syracuse with an ERA of 5.68, but did strike out eleven, without issuing a walk in six International League appearances.

Storen was sent down late last month after giving up three runs in less than an inning of work against both Pittsburgh and the Mets. In the majors this season, Storen is 3-2 with a pair of saves and an ERA of 5.95.

To make room for Storen, the Nats optioned reliever Ryan Mattheus to Syracuse. Mattheus fractured his hand in late May when he punched a locker in frustration. Mattheus has an ERA of 5.48 over 23 innings in the majors this season.
