RG3 offers to race Garcon

Updated: September 18, 2013

One day ago, Washington Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon indicated that Robert Griffin II has been slowed a bit because of the presence of his knee brace, which he is expected to wear the entire season.

“Robert obviously can’t run as fast as he did last year because of his knee brace and his knee,” Garcon told ESPN980 Radio on Tuesday. “But it’s the same offense, to be honest with you. It’s nothing different. It hasn’t changed at all.”

How would RG3 himself respond to Garcon’s comments?  Leave it to Robert Griffin III to respond in a jovial manner.  He simply challenged Garcon to a race.

“There’s no knee issue.  I love my receiver.  If he wants to race, then we can race.”

No doubt that Griffin was both serious and joking at the same time.  The one thing we can say about Griffin and Garcon is the chemistry they have developed is undeniable.  In the first two games, Garcon has been Griffin’s most popular and go to receiver, catching 15 passes for 207 yards and a TD.  he has average 13.8 yards per reception, including a 145 yard game last week that in which he average over 17 yards per catch.

According to Birkett, both players have been advised by team officials to not discuss the topic.
