RG3 could get clearance to play Thursday
Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III will meet with his physician, Doctor James Andrews, on Thursday of this week and at that time Andrews is likely to give RG3 the thumbs up or down on playing in the season opener on September 9.
“I know Dr. Andrews will sit down and evaluate Robert and probably just give us his recommendation,” Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said in Ashburn today.
Andrews cleared Griffin to play in practice before the preseason started and RG3 has gradually ramped up his regimen to the point of now regularly practicing with the starting offense against the starting defense. Shanahan has said the final decision on Griffin playing in the season opener will be left up to Andrews.
Earlier today on ESPN 980 AM, Griffin said he is “not below 100 percent.”
