The Washington Redskins are placing injured DE Stephen Bowen [meniscus in knee] on injured reserve, ending his season.

The Redskins are also waiving DB Jerome Murphy, a special teams specialist who hasn’t been good on special teams.

Finally, the Redskins promoted WR Josh Bellamy, a 24-year-old out of Louisville who went undrafted in 2012, from the practice squad to the active roster. Bellamy played his college ball at the University of Louisville and spent most of 2012 on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad before being promoted on December 8 of last year. On September 10, 2013 the San Diego Chargers signed Bellamy to their practice squad, but cut him on November 19. The Redskins signed him on November 21 and assigned him to their practice squad before promoting him today.

The Redskins still have a spot open on the active roster, but they filled the practice squad spot with DB Peyton Thompson [5'11", 180 lbs]. Thompson played his college ball at San Jose State but went undrafted in 2012. He spent his first season on the Atlanta practice squad before being cut on August 30 of this year.
