As expected, mother Washington Redskins have finalized a deal with 28 year old assistant Sean McVay to become then new Offensive Coordinator under new head coach Jay Gruden. McVay is considered to be one of the bright young minds in football and his promotion to Offensive Coordinator keeps him in the Redskins fold.

McVay was the Tight End Coach last season under Mike Shanahan. He received much accolades with his work and development of rookie TE Jordan Reed. He was one of a few holdovers from the Shanahan staff and this first to get role clarification on the new staff.

After Gruden was announced the new head coach last week, rumors floated that McVay would be retained as offensive coordinator. It was a foregone conclusion the Redskins wanted to keep McVay on staff. Jim Haslett and Raheem Morris are additional holdovers from Shanahan’s staff and both are expected to be retained in defensive staff roles.

McVay was a favorite of many on the Redskins roster and with his appointment today, the phase may very well be underway in communicating with QB Robert Griffin III and the rest of the offense on what type of offensive system should, be expected.
