Quarter by Quarter Summary: Redskins v. 49ers

Here is our weekly quarter by quarter summary of the Monday night showdown between the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers. It will be updated throughout the game. The Redskins will be without TE Jordan Reed and DE Stephen Bowen.

1st Half: Redskins 6 49ers 10

Redskins won the toss and went three and out. After giving up one first down, the Redskins force the 49ers to punt. Redskins failed to convert a third and three and will be forced to punt on their second possession. After two possessions, Robert Griffin III is 0-2 and has rushed 2′times for 9 yards. Redskins defense holds again on a third down sack by Jarvis Jenkins. The Redskins punt again. 9 plays and 3 punts. Not a good offensive start. Josh Wilson was beat two consecutive plays by Anquan Boldin as SF takes the lead. Redskins turn the ball over on a really poor throw by Griffin. After Vernon Davis smokes Josh Wilson deep, the 49ers add three more to the board. Washington effectively ran the ball and got on the board with a 36 yard field goal by Kai Forbath. Redskins end the half with another Forbath field goal.

2nd Half: Redskins 6 49ers 17

Redskins force a 49ers turnover after Josh Wilson and Barry Cofield stripped Vernon Davis of the football and Brandon Meriweather recovers the ball. Redskins fail to convert a 4th and about one and half on a Roy Helu run. Redskins get slashed by Anquan Boldin and Veron Davis add a TD drove for the 49ers. Washington offense starting to look completely inept in the second half. Forced to punt with seven and half minutes left. Redskins again can’t move the football and are forced to punt.
