Nats win 5th straight, down Royals 7-2

May be very well be a little too late, but the Washington Nationals have put together a 5 game winning streak, stretching that out tonight with a 7-2 won over the Kansas City Royals.  Jordan Zimmermann (15-7) picked up his 15th win, tying Adam Wainright for the National League lead.  Zimmermann tossed 7 innings and allowed 8 hits and 2 runs while fanning 7 batters.

Bryce Harper started off the Nationals 7 run win with an RBI single in the first inning.  Harper went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI.  He extended his hitting streak to 7 consecutive games, in which he has gone 11 for 28 at the plate with 5 runs and 4 RBI.  After the Royals tied it in the third inning with an RBI single from Eric Hosmer, the Nats put up four runs in the 4th inning  to take full command of the game.   Wilson Ramos drove in the first run on a sacrifice fly that scored Ryan Zimmerman.  Tyler Moore followed with a double that brought in Harper and Chad Tracy capped off the inning with an RBI single that scored Adam LaRoche and Moore.

Washington capped off it’s 7 runs with a two run home run by Ian Desmond.  It was Desmond’s 18th round tripper of the season.

The Nats will send Damn  Haren to the mound tomorrow to try and complete a three game series sweep of the Royals,  With the win today, the Nats climbed one game over .500 at 65-64.
