Nats Trade For DeJesus And Cut Bernadina

Updated: August 19, 2013

The Nationals have added a left handed bat, acquiring veteran outfielder David Dejesus from the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named later.

The 33 year old Dejesus is hitting .250 with six home runs, 27 RBI and three stolen bases this season. DeJesus spent his first eight seasons in Kansas City before a year in Oakland and the last two in Chicago. DeJesus is a solid defensive outfielder and is expected to provide depth at all three outfield spots.

In a corresponding roster move, the Nationals waived outfielder Roger Bernadina.
