Nats Minor League Playoff Update (9/6)
The Harrisburg Senators dropped a 2-1 decision last night on two unearned runs as the series heads back to Harrisburg tied at 1-1. The Senators suffered from two throwing errosr, the first by Jeff Howell that led to a fourth inning run, and a throwing error by SS Sean Nicol that led to the winning run, as Erie downed Harrisburg 2-1.
Brian Good was 3 for 5 at the plate, as the Senators only mustered 5 hits and 1 run on the night. The Senators blew a quality start from Taylor Hill as he tossed 6 innings and allowed 1 unearned run on just 5 hits. Matthew Swynenberg took the loss, as he threw 1.2 innings and allowed the unearned run from the Nicol throwing error.
The series shifts back to Harrisburg for Games 3 and 4.
Potomac Nationals jumped out to a 2-0 series lead with a 3-2 win last night. Kevin Keyes was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and Adrian Sanchez, Adrian Nieto, and Will Piwnica-Worms each collected RBIs. Piwnica-Worms RBI single came in the ninth inning that scored Keyes on his second double of the night. Blake Schwartz, who had a system high 13 wins in the regular season, threw 8 innings and scattered 8 hits on just 1 run. Greg Holt earned the win in relief, throwing a scoreless ninth inning.
Hagerstown Suns were off last night and lead their series with West Virginia, 1-0.
