Nats’ Ian Desmond Wins Silver Slugger Award

Washington Nationals SS Ian Desmond has won his second consecutive Silver Slugger award. The award honor reenforces Desmond as one of the best shortstops in all of baseball. MLB’s Silver Slugger awards are handed out in each league to the best offensive player at each position.

Desmond played in 158 of the 162 games this past season and batted .280 at the plate. Of his 168 hits on the season, Desmond had 38 doubles, 3 triples, and 20 home runs. He had a .451 slugging percentage and a .331 on base percentage. He also scored 77 runs and drove in 80 runs. Het set career highs in plate appearances (600), hits (168), doubles (38), RBI (80), and walks (43).
