Nats complete double header sweep of Braves

The Washington Nationals completed a double header sweep of the Atlanta Braves with a 4-0 shutout. Rookie Tanner Roark threw seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits with six strikeouts to help lead the Nats to an impressive double header sweep in game two. With the win by Roark, he kept his record perfect at 7-0.

Steve Lombardozzi singled in the Nats first run in the second inning to give the Nationals an early 1-0 lead. Roark held that lead for seven stellar innings.

Washington put the Braves away with a three-run eighth inning. The inning started off with a Ryan Zimmerman solo home run, his 25th of the season and his 10th homer in his last 15 games. ZIM collected two hits in four plate appearances. After a Bryce Harper single, Ian Desmond doubled him in to extend the Nats lead to 3-0. Adam LaRoche completed the three running with an RBI single that scored Desmond. Denard Span ended the game 1-4 extending his hitting streak to a Major League season high 28 games.

Rafael Soriano closed out the game after shaky effort that started with two singles. Soriano then got a 5-4 double play to the two outs and get out of a building pressure situation.

With the double header sweep, the Nats move to within 4 games of the final wild card spot.
