Grade the Trade Poll: Nats acquire Doug Fister

Updated: December 3, 2013

A new poll is up on DC Pro Sports Report.

This week the poll is a grade the trade by letter grade on the Nationals acquisition of starting pitcher Doug Fister.  Yesterday, the Nats traded 2B Steve Lombardozzi, reliever Ian Krol, and prospect Robbie Ray to Detroit to acquire Fister.   From what we understand, Ray was the late throw in after GM Mike Rizzo rejected requests for pitcher Taylor Jordan.

Fister fills the fourth slot in the Nats starting rotation, as he joins Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmermann, and Gio Gonzalez, forming one of baseball’s most potent starting rotations.  Fister replaces Dan Haren in the rotation.  Haren left the Nats via free agency and signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.  There was little doubt that Haren would not return to Washington, by mutual understanding.  Haren desired to return to the West Coast and the Nats had little interest in resigning Haren.  The Nats have several options to fill the fifth starting slot, including Ross Detwiler, Jordan, and Tanner Roark.

So grade the trade!  Vote in our poll.  After voting, discuss it in our DC Pro Sport Reddit and the Nationals reddit.
