The Redskins are 13 point underdogs in Denver, do you think they have a chance to upset the Broncos? Let us know at the DC PRO reddit page.

Redskins Nation rejoice! Unless you live in the Phoenix or Atlanta markets, you will receive the second game of the FOX doubleheader from Colorado. Sorry to our friends in Arizona and Georgia as you will get the Falcons @ Cardinals. Thom Brennaman and Troy Aikman handling the call, with Pam Oliver on the sideline.

For the first time in more than a calendar year, the Broncos are coming off a regular season loss. Denver suffering its first loss of the 2013 season in Peyton Manning’s emotional return to Indianapolis, ending a streak of 17 consecutive regular season wins. The four time NFL MVP didn’t practice on Wednesday, but was resting more than anything else. In fact, veterans like Champ Bailey, Eric Decker and Wes Welker didn’t practice either, simply taking a break halfway through an NFL season according to Broncos Head Coach John Fox.

Sunday will mark the first time Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan returns to Mile High Stadium since he was fired following the 2008 season. 1770 days since he left, but who’s counting (the Broncos are). Shanahan has a legacy in Denver of two Super Bowl victories and the Broncos will honor him with a short video on Sunday. As for Shanahan himself, he is hoping he isn’t booed, after all, he was fired after 21 years with the team and didn’t quit.

The Redskins will be looking to end the Broncos ten game home winning streak and at the same time win back to back games for the first time this season. Washington will have to outscore a Denver offense averaging a league leading 470 yards per game and a league high 298 points scored. Manning leads the NFL with 25 touchdown passes, while running back Knowshon Moreno leads the NFL with eight rushing touchdowns. The Redskins offense is also on a roll, the 499 yards amassed in the 45-41 win over Chicago on Sunday are the most by the team this century. Washington’s offensive revival has coincided with Robert Griffin III’s renewed running threat. A wild card for the Redskins may be running back Roy Helu who scored three times on the ground last week and has earned more playing time.

Denver has the league’s worst pass defense, allowing 340 yards per game. Some of the Broncos deficiencies through the air can be attributed to opponent’s playing from behind early on and also the absence of cornerback Champ Bailey for much of the season. Expect a big game from both tight end’s as Washington rookie Jordan Reed has a breakout game against the Bears, while the Broncos have surrendered some big games to opposing tight ends. Denver will look to tight end Julius Thomas early and often to exploit the Redskins issues at safety. Thomas and receiver Wes Welker are tied for the NFL lead in TD catches with eight apiece. Washington may have to go without both starting safeties as Brandon Meriweather will be serving one-game suspension, while Reed Doughty is recovering from a concussion suffered on Sunday.
