The Washington Redskins’ 2013 season will come to a close on Sunday afternoon as the team faces the New York Giants in Week 17. Kickoff at MetLife Stadium is set for 1 p.m. on FOX. The game will likely be the final one for Redskins linebacker London Fletcher, who announced last Wednesday that this season is “99 percent” likely to be his last.

Tom Coughlin leads the New York Giants into the final week of the 2013 season following a 23-20 overtime victory against the Detroit Lions last week. The Giants improved to 6-9 and will finish third in the NFC East this season. Quarterback Eli Manning has led the Giants’ offense in 2013 for the 10th consecutive season. Through 15 games, Manning has completed 307-of-527 passes for 3,666 yards, 17 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. Running back Andre Brown leads the Giants’ rushing attack with 126 carries for 481 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Victor Cruz has remained Manning’s favorite target in 2013, compiling 73 receptions for 998 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has added 54 catches for 846 yards and tight end Brandon Myers has contributed 45 receptions for 513 yards and four touchdowns. Second-year wide receiver Rueben Randle has 41 catches for 611 yards and a team high six touchdowns. Safety Antrel Rolle leads the Giants’ defense with 90 tackles (73 solo), adding two sacks and one forced fumble. Rolle also leads New York and is tied for second in the NFL with six interceptions. Defensive end Justin Tuck has totaled a team-leading nine sacks, while eighth-year defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka has six sacks.

Kirk Cousins will be making his third straight start, the fourth of his career and his first against the Giants. Cousins was on fire against Atlanta on December 15th, but was less effective against Dallas on Sunday. Running back Alfred Morris was shut down by the Giants at Fed Ex Field on December 1st, managing only 26 yards on eleven carries, his lowest totals of the season. Pierre Garcon has understandably been a favorite target of Cousins, not unlike Robert Griffin III, as Garcon has been targeted a league high 172 times. Garcon has caught 107 of the flurry of attempts, a Redskins single season record. Trent Williams remains the rock on the Washington offensive line and was rewarded with his 2nd straight Pro Bowl nomination on Friday night. The Washington defense is arguably the league’s worst, allowing an average of nearly 360 yards per game and more than 30 points per contest.

Coach Mike Shanahan addressed the media following practice on Thursday afternoon. Many believe that Sunday’s game in New York will be his last as the Redskins head coach.
