Long the FOX national game, the Redskins @ Cowboys has been reduced to regional coverage on Sunday. Those markets that traditionally get Dallas and Washington are in luck, the rest of the country is a mixed bag. The game of the day, New Orleans @ Carolina will only be shown in the southeast. CBS has the doubleheader, however due to NFL rules, there is no 1pm game in DC metro. At 4pm, most of the country, including DC, get New England @ Baltimore.

The Washington Redskins will close their 2013 slate of home games on Sunday as they host the rival Dallas Cowboys in an NFC East showdown in Week 16. Kickoff at Fed Ex Field is set for 1 p.m. FOX will broadcast the game to a national audience.

Third-year head coach Jason Garrett leads the Dallas Cowboys into Week 16 following a 37-36 home loss to the Green Bay Packers last Sunday. The Cowboys relinquished a 23-point halftime lead to fall to 7-7, keeping them in second place in the NFC East behind the Philadelphia Eagles.

Quarterback Tony Romo, now in his 11th NFL season and his eighth as the starter in Dallas, captains the Cowboys’ offense. He has completed 325-of-508 passes for 3,602 yards, 29 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Romo’s 29 touchdowns rank third in the NFL, and his passer rating of 96.6 is the eighth-best in the league. Third-year running back DeMarco Murray is the Cowboys’ primary rusher. He leads the team with 178 carries for 977 yards and eight touchdowns. Murray is also the Cowboys’ third-leading receiver with 45 receptions for 296 yards. Wide receiver Dez Bryant leads the Cowboys’ receiving corps and secured his second consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season last week against Green Bay. Bryant has 81 receptions for 1,061 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Veteran tight end Jason Witten has 59 receptions for 703 yards and eight touchdowns. Fourth-year safety Barry Church leads the Cowboys’ defense in tackles with 119 (95 solo) and in forced fumbles (three). Defensive tackle Jason Hatcher leads the team with a career-high nine sacks, and defensive end George Selvie has added seven sacks. Linebacker Sean Lee has fought through injury this season to record four interceptions, the most on the team, including one returned for a touchdown.

Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins made his first start of the season and the second start of his career last week in Atlanta, completing 29-of-45 passes for 381 yards and three touchdowns, all career highs. Including a 329-yard performance in his first career start at Cleveland last season, Cousins became the first Redskins quarterback in the Super Bowl era to exceed 300 passing yards in each of his first two career starts. Cousins and the offense can rely on a supporting cast that features both a 1,000-yard rusher (Alfred Morris) and a 1,000-yard receiver (Pierre Garçon). Defensively, linebacker Brian Orakpo has registered seven sacks in the last six games. Against Atlanta last Sunday, “Rak” added 1.5 sacks, bringing his season total to 10.0. The 2013 season marks the second in his career in which he has posted double-digit sacks, and he now sits one sack shy of matching his 11.0-sack career high from his rookie season in 2009.

Sunday marks the final home game for Redskins linebacker London Fletcher. Fletcher announced his intentions to retire on Wednesday at Redskins Park. ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim on the passion and intensity that marked his career. USA Today has five photos from Fletcher’s time in Washington.
