I agree. Changing a defensive system every four years is what teams do that consistently lose or are medicore. Like the Redskins. Stability and consistency breed success. The Redskins committed to a 3-4 and that should be the long term plan. Most of the defensive personnel were kicked out of here in favor of guys that can play the 3-4. What are we going to do? Another roster overhaul and another three year window?
I personally do not believe Haslett will or should go anywhere. Haslett took over a 4-3 defense and made it a 3-4 defense. He struggled in his first season because he had 4-3 personnel, ranking 30th in defense. Last year, after getting some personnel that fit the system, the defense jumped to 11. He coached a great game against Drew Brees and the Saints. He had a bad game against the Rams. I think everyone is overreacting. If this becomes a pattern, then that is on Haslett. However, he had a great defensive performance Week one, poor defensive performance week 2. Let's see what he has done to right the ship in Week 3 before sending him off to be lynched. Come on guys, we are not a weekly, fickle fan base are we? Oh wait . . .
One thing Haslett has going against him, besides injuries, is the fact the front office did a horrible job building pass defense. The corners and safeties are a mess. That is on Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan.
