    NHL Lockout Ends

The NHL Owners officially lock the players out tonight at 12:00. Wonder how long this will last? Any bets?

This is getting ridiculous!!! . . . the last lockout almost killed hockey . . . what do they think is going to happen this time?? once the stadiums are empty due to pissed off fans not wanting to spend a bunch of $$ to go see the game the league and players are ruining, the only way to get people back will be to lower the prices of everything . . . then they won't be able to afford the salaries again . . . then another strike . . . then . . . COME ON!!! Figure it out and get on the ice or just dismantle the league already!!

Well, given the fact the Winter Classic has been cancelled, I think that is a clear signal we should not expect anything this season.

Bottom line --- NHL will pay a very hefty price and this time, it might not be recoverable.

agreed . . . an i just don't understand how they can justify their stances . . . they actually negotiated a pretty good deal last time, but because they lost a season they hurt the league a ton and in doing so destroyed the leagues fanbase, hence greatly reducing revenue . . . how can they not see its just gonna keep getting worse . . . we might be looking at a completely new hockey league in a few years as the NHL folds . . . that would be a huge sports disaster in my mind as the NHL was an incredible league at one point . . . god i miss 80's hockey!!!

With 1/3 of the season now cancelled, both parties have agreed to Federal mediation. Deal soon? Don't count on it.

I was one of those hoping the NBA would stay locked out.

there was talk on KTAR in phoenix regarding the possibility of the league folding . . . while it was just speculation, if they don't get this fixed soon, then find a marketing genius that can help them get their fan base back, it just may happen in a few years . . . or at least a reduction in the number of teams out there . . . remove the 6 worse teams (revenue wise) and the league would be in much better shape . . . not sure what i would like to see (other than hockey itself) though . . . I SURE MISS HOCKEY OF THE 80's!!!!!!
