    Grossman and Davis deals looming?

We know that the Skins are meeting with their agent, could signings be forthcoming?

If Grossman and Davis sign, are the Skins done with FA on the offensive side of the ball?

On defense, other than corner(s) and safety, it doesn't appear any other needs given the salary cap situation.

The needs are so acute in the secondary, I am wondering if the team should trade up in the draft and try and try and get four DB's by the end of round 4. That would mean possibly packaging both 5th's and perhaps the 6th to get a mid to high additional 4th. Picking DB's in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 4th would give a shot in the arm to easily the biggest weakness on the squad. I would then gamble on a developmental QB with the 7th rounder and hope to stash him on practice squad until next year ('14) when Rex is gone.

Some fans are so unrealistic with expectations... I read an article that said Jordan Bernstine was Bob Sanders and Josh Wilson was Darrell Green. Optimistic comparisons, huh?

hmmm . . . expected Grossman back for another year with RGIII coming back from injury . . . hopefully Davis is seeing what the market holds and the Skins can get him for a reasonable price . . .

interesting thoughts around trading up in the draft, do you really think that the draft picks in the lower rounds would be enough to move up like you want?? i would be all for that as DB's are much cheaper in the draft than in free agency and this is supposed to be one of the strongest drafts for DB's ever, so lets hope!!

I believe we could get a 4th in exchange for our two 5th round picks and our 6th... I would even add the 7th if we the 4th rounder was high in the round. I imagine we could get two corners and two safeties in the top 100 selections..... (actually our 4th is closer to 120, but the three others in top 100 would net some real talent in the secondary)

I took a look at the NFL draft pick trade chart and if we give up 5,5,6 we can get a 4th rounder among the top half of the round.

Based on the latest 7 round mock at http://newnfldraft.com/ (using player availability based on that mock) here is what we could get if we made the deal and ended up with just the 14th pick in the fourth round in the deal.....

2 Robert Alford, CB/KR, SE Louisiana
3 Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State
4 Phillip Thomas, SS, Fresno St (4th round pick via trade)
    4 Josh Evans, S, Florida

I think the chances of hitting a potential starter down the line is much better in the 4th (obviously) than in later rounds where you get the Crawfords and Bernstines. Nothing against them, but I don't project them as starters.

I still like the idea of taking a punter in the 7th round

i'd be all for this . . . that would definitely inject a little youth and hopefully talent into a secondary deprived of it . . .

Do you believe the Skins will bring back DeAngelo Hall and Cedric Griffin. Follow up question, should they do so?

While the Rob Jackson suspension is problematic from a depth standpoint, IMO the Skins are fine everywhere BUT the secondary. Especially if they can resign Fred Davis and to a much lesser extend Rex. Perhaps Wilson brought back at OLB for depth? And how about the kid from FSU that was a late pick a couple of years ago and was cut late in camp? Can't remember his name at the moment.

i'm not sure . . . if so, IMO it would have to be very cost effective, so Hall will probably be elsewhere . . . maybe Griffin if he is willing to play for the league minimum or slightly above . . . i think i would try for some younger players with more potential upside . . .
