Redskins Reach Agreement with Jeremy Trueblood . . .

    Source (PFT):

The Redskins and Buccaneers free agent offensive tackle Jeremy Trueblood reached a deal contingent on a physical, NFL writer Jenna Laine reported Thursday.

Trueblood was scheduled to visit Washington this weekend, as Laine and Mike Jones of the Washington Post noted, but a deal was struck earlier.

Trueblood, who turns 30 in May, has primarily played right tackle in his NFL career. He appeared in eight games a season ago, starting one. However, Redskins general manager Bruce Allen, formerly of the Bucs, is familiar with Trueblood, as PFT’s Darin Gantt noted this morning.
well . . . while not a game changer by no means, when healthy he is a better RT than Polumbus . . . hopefully this will mean an open competion between Crompton, Pashos and Trueblood with a chance of some decent play coming out of that . . . hopefully its Crompton that will lead the way and give the skins a starting RT for years to come . . .

Kind of a strange signing. Dude is huge at 6'8" but when you read analysis of him, most NFL analysts they say they would not picture him in a zone blocking scheme.

Guess when you are capped strapped, this is what you do, go with veterans that may or may not fit the cause. I can't help but think they will supplement a Pashos/Trueblood battle at camp with a second or third rounder to fight for job as well.

The Redskins plan at right tackle is clearly to throw a number of players in the mix [Pashos, Trueblood, Compton, maybe someone else] and see which one is the best and hope that player has a career year. Sort of indicates they will not go RT in the 2nd round, which is what I would suggest.

i think we need to go CB/FS in the 2nd round and as for RT, hopefully Compton is ready . . . or Pashos/Trueblood is healthy enough . . . both are upgrades to polumbus when healthy (IMO)
