    Another look at the 2013 draft

    My TV broke last Thursday (I did manage to watch the game on Sunday) so I've had a lot of free time over the past few days.
    I decided to use that time to look at the draft. I ran across www.drafttek.com and thought I'd play around with it.

    Here's what I came up with:
    draft round - player - college [height weight] position [average 40 time] {rank of position}
    other positions - injury notes

    (This one was after adjusting things as I thought they should be)
    Round 2 - Desmond Trufant - Washington [6' 0" 186 lbs] CB [4.48 Average 40] {3 of 238}
    Round 3 - Josh Evans - Florida [6' 1" 200 lbs] FS [4.54 Average 40] {7 of 132}
    can also play SS
    Round 4 - Leon McFadden - San Diego State [5' 10" 190 lbs] CB [4.49 Average 40] {8 of 238}
    Round 5 - Zeke Motta - Notre Dame [6' 2" 215 lbs] FS [4.54 Average 40] {6 of 132}
    can also play SS/OLB
    Round 5 - Graham Pocic - Illinois [6' 5" 310 lbs] C [5.24 Average 40] {6 of 97}
    can also play OG
    Round 6 - Travis Bond - North Carolina [6' 6" 340 lbs] OG [5.33 Average 40] {14 of 203}
    can also play OT
    Round 6 - A.J. Klein - Iowa State [6' 1" 244 lbs] ILB[4.72 Average 40] {7 of 140}
    can also play OLB
    Round 7 - Wes Horton - Southern Cal [6' 5" 255 lbs] DE [4.76 Average 40] {21 of 205}

    (This one was with their default using default "target" players)
    Round 2 - Desmond Trufant - Washington [6' 0" 186 lbs] CB [4.48 Average 40] {3 of 238}
    Round 3 - Bacarri Rambo - Georgia [6' 0" 210 lbs] FS [4.54 Average 40] {4 of 132}
    can also play SS
    Round 4 - James Gayle - Virginia Tech [6' 4" 268 lbs] DE [4.58 Average 40] {8 of 235}
    can also play OLB
    Round 5 - Graham Pocic - Illinois [6' 5" 310 lbs] C [5.24 Average 40] {6 of 97}
    can also play OG
    Round 5 - Shawn Williams - Georgia [6' 1" 218 lbs] SS [4.53 Average 40] {2 of 121}
    can also play OLB
    Round 6 - Travis Bond - North Carolina [6' 6" 340 lbs] OG [5.33 Average 40] {14 of 203}
    can also play OT
    Round 6 - Chris Thompson (+) - Florida State [5' 8" 187 lbs] RB [4.43 Average 40] {21 of 178}
    can also play KR - 2012 Knee injury/2011 Back injury
    Round 7 - Zach Sudfeld - Nevada [6' 6" 255 lbs] TE [4.75 Average 40] {6 of 98}

    (This one was with their default NOT using default "target" players)
    Round 2 - Desmond Trufant - Washington [6' 0" 186 lbs] CB [4.48 Average 40] {3 of 238}
    Round 3 - Josh Evans - Florida [6' 1" 200 lbs] FS [4.54 Average 40] {7 of 132}
    can also play SS
    Round 4 - Brandon Jenkins (+) - Florida State [6' 3" 260 lbs] OLB [4.69 Average 40] {5 of 254}
    can also play DE - 2012 Foot injury
    Round 5 - Zeke Motta - Notre Dame [6' 2" 215 lbs] FS [4.54 Average 40] {6 of 132}
    can also play SS/OLB
    Round 5 - Graham Pocic - Illinois [6' 5" 310 lbs] C [5.24 Average 40] {6 of 97}
    can also play OG
    Round 6 - Travis Bond - North Carolina [6' 6" 340 lbs] OG [5.33 Average 40] {14 of 203}
    can also play OT
    Round 6 - Josh Boyce - TCU [5' 11" 203 lbs] WR [4.55 Average 40] {15 of 351}
    Round 7 - Zach Sudfeld - Nevada [6' 6" 255 lbs] TE [4.75 Average 40] {6 of 98}

    What do you think?
    It will all change after free agency, assuming we do anything, but if the draft were tomorrow... I think I'd be happy with either of these. I'm kind of partial to the one I altered though.

    love the positions . . . but i haven't really looked into the draft prospects or paid enough attention to college football to be able to say i like/dislike the players . . .

    i feel we need to address the secondary the most in the draft . . . especially CB as if we are going to spend on secondary in FA i would prefer we spent on the cheaper secondary positions and find good CB's in the draft . . . hopefully Minnefield can get healthy as he if so he would be great to have around

    Ran another mock today and it's quite a bit different...
    Round 2 [pick 53] - Will Davis - Utah State
    [5' 11" 182 lbs] CB [4.53 Average 40] {11 of 251}
    Round 3 [pick 83] - Josh Evans - Florida
    [6' 1" 205 lbs] FS [4.54 Average 40] { 9 of 143}
    can also play SS
    Round 4 [pick 116] - Darius Slay - Mississippi State
    [6' 1" 190 lbs] CB [4.53 Average 40] {10 of 251}
    can also play FS
    Round 5 [pick 149] - Omoregie Uzzi - Georgia Tech
    [6' 3" 302 lbs] OG [5.26 Average 40] {10 of 218}
    Round 5 [pick 155] - Zeke Motta - Notre Dame
    [6' 2" 215 lbs] FS [4.54 Average 40] { 8 of 143}
    can also play SS/OLB/ST
    Round 6 [pick 179] - Xavier Nixon - Florida
    [6' 6" 311 lbs] OT [5.18 Average 40] {13 of 158}
    can also play OG
    Round 7 [pick 211] - Zach Line - SMU
    [6' 0" 233 lbs] FB [4.65 Average 40] { 3 of 101}
    can also play RB/H-back

    Not sure if I'm on board with our round 7 pick, but I can see Shanahan doing something crazy like that.
    2 corners
    2 safeties
    2 O-line
    1 Flier on a 7th rounder...

    I'd take that.

    May not all be necessary, depending on free agency, but we definitely need the secondary help.
    Who knows...

    Darius Slay is shooting up draft boards, if he has a good combine watch out!
