    Shanahan's transformation ...

Did not begin with the drafting of Robert Griffin III. He was part of the transformation, the critical part, but not THE transformation.

To me, the transformation into forming the team we see today started back in the last fall of 2011 when Mike Shanahan had had enough and decided to embark on the youth movement for this franchise. He infused players like Leonard Hankerson and Perry Riley into the lineup. Leaving guys like Otogwe and Rocky McIntosh go to allow others, like Riley, more suited for the Halsettt defense, to play. Leave guys like Phillip Buchanan, Chris Cooley (at least in the off-season), Dante Stallworth, HB Blades, Sean Locklear, Roydell Williams, off the roster and adding instead draft picks and unsigned rookei to replace them and to learn the system.

It was that point, where Mike Shanahan decided he had had enough of veterans holding spots over young players that were ready, was the beginning of the Redskins transformation.

This team has a Nationals feel too it. Young roster, built around amazing young talent, that could be set to compete for at least the next five years. Gotta finally love it.

I agree the youth movement was huge. If we dont win this year i think we are pretty darn close. With a healthy RG3 and a healthy defense i think we could make a run at the Superbowl.

Wow did i just say that about the Skins? lol

I also think there were some key FA signings like Chester, Josh Wilson, Coefield, Bowen, Morgan and Garcon. Not Vinnie signings but guys who were young and wanted to play. I hope next they get young FA that fit there team and use the draft to fill in the holes.

you nailed the critical word, Larry. Young. Shanny took the approach of signing younger veterans who still have their best days ahead.

I wonder what approach the team will take this year with the draft. The past 2 they have added volumes to get the youth and depth on the roster. I wonder since our first pick is going to be so late in the 2nd round if they don't stand pat and try to add 1 to 2 starters with the 2nd and 3rd round picks, maybe a new RT and a FS. We cannot count on Tanard Jackson, he can't even step foot into the facility until 8/30/13 if he even gets reinstated.

This next draft, to me, should be about adding as much quality with the pics as possible, not necessarily the volume.
