It is sad to see a long time, dedicated veteran like this leave, but it always happens. The upgrade in the roster made it so. Personally, I set my mind of this day when the redskins announced the conversion of Niles Paul to TE. That was the first signal.

He is the best of the last 10 years and I was hoping to see him play but the cuts needed to happen somewhere and I wish him the best. Hopefully not in the East.
Man i watched his presser after getting released. Hated watching that! I was about to break down watching him.
I know it had to happen with his current rate of pay and what he brings to the table now. They dont mesh anymore so it had to be done, just sad to see him talking about the Redskins and about to break down.
If you play long enough in this league, you will eventually get released, it's just the way it works. Ask Peyton Manning. Time doesn't stop for anyone. Let's not mourn the fact he is gone, let's celebrate that he was here.

probably one of the top 10 greatest redskins ever in terms of fan favorite.love to see him come back as a redskins coach or scout,or even as a tight end at a lower salary.skins i think did this because of salary cap reasons.
