Because he was worse in coverage as a 3-4 OLB than anyone on the current roster. He needs to have his hand in the dirt on every down and the 3-4 doesn't allow for that.

I'd rather see them go get Markus White off of the Bucs practice squad.

They are nasty to confront but cowards at heart and will usually hide or play dead when challenged

That addresses the Carriker roster spot, still have an opening for Orakpo.

Back to Andre Carter, in his only season in DC as a standup OLB in a 3-4, he had 3.5 sacks or so. Year before as a hand in the dirt 4-3 DE, he had 10 sacks as I recall. You can't just put him on the field and say rush the passer, the job of O coords is to see who is on the field for the D and call plays to exploit them. Carter will get put into alignments that will require him to cover in space, and I'd rather have Tom Threlkeld doing that before Andre Carter.

The better option, in my amateur, uneducated opinion, is to bring back Markus White who has been trained in our scheme and would take the least amount of time to get up to speed.

YIKES!! . . . not sure there are a ton of players that can really help out there . . . sure hope Jackson or Wilson can step up and play . . . a bad defense just got worse!!

The other bad thing about all this is Josh Wilson has a concussion. We don't know about his time table. He woud be a big loss as well. He is the best corner overall on this team. The secondary already blows.

so how come nobody is talking at Fred Davis' concussion??

    Source: Rich Campbell

Shanahan: Fred Davis should be subjected to NFL concussion protocol after receiving an illegal helmet to helmet hit vs. the Rams.
with the way he has been playing, maybe the hit on the head will help . . .

According to Grant Paulsen, Davis has been targeted a team high 9 times. So he is definitely a part of the passing game plans.
