Robert Griffin III was superb...
Nice write up . . . so how does RGIII top that performance next week?? most likely he won't and we do have to keep in mind that he is a rookie and WILL make some mistakes . . . but love the kid!!!!
It was an amazing performance by Griffin and the whole team really. Absolutely love the way Robert played, and the confidence shown in him by the staff so soon was impressive. It appeared he had some nerves in the beginning, but Kyle called some nice easy pass and run plays to break him in. By the 2nd quarter, you could sense he was confident, and that he belonged. What I loved the most though was in the 4th qtr after the Morris TD when it looked like the game was iced, Robert kept his game face on as he was talking with London about finishing this game. He so easily could have relaxed, had his helmet off and a smile on his face, but he didn't. He has that killer instinct and I was so proud of him right there. Just a tremendous performance by OUR QUARTERBACK!
It is going to be very hard to keep expectations in check now after this upset. I still consider the Ram game a must win next week as the team needs to back up a huge victory with a win against a weaker team. No more letdowns. I thought the defense played very well, and Haslett called a masterful game. Brees was clearly unnerved during the game, and his timing was definately off. Cedric Griffin and Gomes played exceptional in my opinion creating 2 huge turnovers and making other key plays, Hall and Wilson were also very good. The front line did a terrific job stopping the run and getting good pressure. Orakpo HAS to make that catch, and M.Williams was late on a few throws that hurt. But the defense did a solid job overall.
Garcon looks like he will be a beast, and Morris was decisive, powerful, and always seems to get positive yardage. The line looked decent mostly, even though some of that was Griffin's mobility. This was RG's game and he dominated, he had plenty of help, but his play is no doubt very inspiring and contagious within the team. Just a great job by the team and the coaching staff.
The one thing I take issue with were some of the penalties. The DPI against NO in the end zone was PI because the defender had a hold of the receivers arm, however the PI that was called on, I believe Madieu later on was crap. He hit the receiver at the same time the ball hit his hands. Even Mike Periera(sp?) said that on his twitter. There were some bonehead calls like the Unsportsmanlike on Madieu for hitting a defenseless receiver. However the late hit in the beginning of the game was something that never would've been called by the real refs because it was at the same time the whistle blew and the block in the back later in the game was crap as well because, and i can't remember who it was called on, the guy in front of him stopped and he threw his hands up and tried to sidestep him. That was not a block in the back. While there were definitely some boneheaded penalties, I don't believe that it would've been as bad if we didn't have the replacement refs.
Bad calls are made by both replacement and regular refs. Part of the game. And since there are replacement refs, it evens out because both teams have to deal with the same crap.

I can remember the regular refs blowing a timeout situation a couple of years ago (in regards to the Seattle - Arizona game from yesterday). I assume that they are getting corrected on their mistakes each week and are going to get better as the season goes along.
I sure hope so. officiating yesterday in every game i saw was awful at best,just flat out wrong at it's worst!Quote:
