This guy makes me entirely too nervous returning the football. It seems every game there is a fumble or bumble of the ball in the return game. At some point, he is going to turn the ball over.

i still think we should let Banks go . . . Robinson or Paul can return kicks and Robinson or Moss can return punts . . .
When was the last time he made a meaningful return in a game that counted? Yet he continues to skirt the turnover issue each and every game, laying the ball on the carpet. Not worth the risk considering the lack of reward.

Banks scares me as well and is a wasted roster spot if you ask me
On that 66 yard punt, he ran completely sideways and lost 3 more yards. He refuses to take what is there and is always looking for the homerun. Not a playmaker.

they should make him inactive sunday, and let somebody else return punts? mayve that will scare his ass straight!
I understand the dilemma with Banks from a coaches position. As of right now, if you cut him, who do you sign to take his roster spot and why? It has to be someone who can be a part of the active 46 every Sunday, otherwise, what's the purpose of making the move? I don't think Cooley is an option as he doesn't represent an upgrade over anyone else. I think RGIII favors throwing to WR's as much as anything, which is the reason for Fred Davis not being that involved. RGIII wants to go downfield. He is a passer.
Even if you cut Banks for a DB, is he going to be good enough to be active on Sundays and make a contribution? There aren't many starting caliber SS, FS or CB's walking the streets this time of year.
That being said, I still think there is a move that can be made for the benefit of the team if they let him go.

i'm not sure that is 100% . . . when Davis went out yesterday and Paul was playing there were more targets that went the TE's way . . .

Possibly, but are they running the same routes, situations different, down and distance, different look from the defense, etc. Safe to say that the Rams probably think Davis is a bigger threat than Paul at this point.

any word on Fred Davis' health?? ShannyCo said his is now under the leagues concussion protocol, but other than that i haven't heard much . . .

I would also be worried about his knee too, did you see how it was bent back when he fell down? His entire body weight was on top of his leg which was folded completely underneath him.
Additionally with Fred, Grant Paulsen said that Davis has been targeted a team high 9 times by RGIII.

truth . . . i can't stand Rex and since he is not even the 2nd string, what purpose does he serve . . . if they want him to continue to tutor the rookies on the play book he supposedly knows so well, make him an assistant coach or something, just don't waste a roster spot on him . . . if injuries happen, he'll be available as nobody else out there will pick him up
Well, if they are going to start using Banks like that, I can tolerate him a little more. He can get you an easy 5 yards on the corner on the option. 5 YPC is a nice average.

No surprise I've been a big fan of Banks' since I saw him at training camp a couple of years ago when he was a rookie. There just isn't anyone on the roster with his incredible mix of speed and agility -- not even Aldrick Robinson. I love seeing Banks brought into the option offense. They've got a nice trinity going there, with Morris, RG3 and Banks. Morris provides the power, Banks the speed and RG3 the speed and passing ability. Who the hell do you cover and how do you cover them all? Teams will come up with ways to do it, but it will leave other parts of the field open. Up to Kyle Shanahan to design the proper response and the players to execute it properly.
I love speed on the football field and nobody has it like Banks. The offense hasn't had big play ability in years -- until this season. With the defense apparently taking the rest of the season off, the team is going to need all the explosive offensive plays it can get.

If teams start playing the triple option like the Bengals did and taking RGIII out every play, he won't last the season. He can't keep getting blasted like that. I don't know if it was a missed block or the design of the play.
