View Full Version : It's back -- The World's Most Prestigious Power Poll: Week 1

01. Green Bay Packers [15-1]: The defense should improve some, but it is Aaron Rodgers who will put the Packers back into Super Bowl contention.

02. New England Patriots [13-3]: As if Tom Brady didn’t have enough weapons, now he can throw to Brandon Lloyd.

03. New York Giants [9-7]: Offensive line and defensive back 7 are still problems, but Eli, great wideouts and the best D-line in football will keep the G-men near the top.

04. Baltimore Ravens [12-4]: As good a bet as any to win the Super Bowl now that Billy Cundiff isn’t around to do Bill Belichick any favors.

05. New Orleans Saints [13-3]: They’ll be better on defense without Gregg Williams and Jonathon Vilma and Drew Brees will still throw for 5500 yards.

If San Fran duplicates their D and TO margin, they are a top 5 team.

also, until the Saints prove that the distractions don't effect them and the personnel on defense can pick up the new scheme and play it at a high level i cannot put the Saints in the top 5 . . . top 10 MAYBE

are the Giants really that good?? were they last year even?? i think they got on a roll and were playing great in the playoffs, but they barely made them in the first place . . . i would not be surprised in the least bit if they didn't this year . . .

New Orleans management would have a huge bargaining chip come contract time if the team does well and makes the playoffs without Payton. And vice versa I suppose.

If the team doesn't miss a beat without Payton, he will be worried . . . if they struggle, he will have all the leverage in the world!!

I agree, I just don't think they can, at least when it comes to turnovers. The Niners got every bounce last year and won every close game. That stuff balances out over time.

Especially if Carlos Rogers returns to earth and his norm 1-2 INT's.

Question is: Will the 2012 Giants look like the Giants of last year's playoffs or of last September thru the first half of December? I thought they'd be the former, but they looked more like the latter against the Cowboys on Wednesday night. To be fair, though, pretty much everyone predicted the Giants to win that game at home. Troubling loss for them.

Yeah, either you're worried about that stuff or you're not. I'm not. Looks like the players just won the appeal on their suspensions, but the coaches had no right to appeal. I just look at that roster and see goodness all over the place. In the end, I think talent will win out and they've got soooo much of that.

Jimmmy Graham and Darren Sproles are nightmares.

true, but i don't think that they are more talented than some of the other top ten teams . . . i think San Fran, Houston and Philly have more talent than the Saints . . . maybe Atlanta too . . .

yes they are . . . its too bad the Skins couldn't land Sproles a couple of years ago when SD franchised him . . . would have LOVED to see him in Burgundy and Gold . . . and Graham is just a beast, hopefully he'll take a step back this year (doubt it) and Davis will take to steps forward!!

Watch out for this play on Sunday. RGIII boots to his right and throws all the way back across the field to a wide open Davis.

lol . . . i have been wondering how big of a jump the skins will make in post week 1 power polls . . . since they were rated so low by so many i expect the largest move up of any team in the league . . .

This victory is different than the victory over the Gints last season. Last year, the O only put up 21 in that game and had TO's (at least 1 Grossman INT as I recall). This team puts up 40 without a TO and the offense was unpredictable with many different looks. This is an entirely different team than last year.

It is imperative that this team comes out and smokes STL. If we struggle or lose, then the value of this win is diminished.

Couldn't agree more. I need to see the Skins win some more before I can truly believe in them and alter my 7-9/8-8 prediction for them. The Saints win was huge -- easily the biggest for this franchise since we made the playoffs in 2005/6. But let's see how the team handles the Rams, Bengals and Buccaneers the rest of this month. Those are three winnable games for the team we saw last Sunday. The Redskins at 4-0? I might start believing then!

i'm here with this as well . . . not even sure that 4 - 0 will suffice, but it will be a good start for sure . . .

1,000% agree. Good teams do not lose these type of games. This is the kind of game the team should control from start to finish.
