This is actually huge news for Personnel Departments. Trade deadline has been pushed back by two week and implement a new IR rule that would allow a team to place one player on IR that woudl be eligible to return before the season ends.

Only players with a "major injury" who are placed on Reserve/Injured after 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, or thereafter during the season, will be eligible to be reactivated at a later time.

Jammal Brown? Tim Hightower?

Hmm that is definitely interesting. My question is that it says only major injury. So what is considered a major injury? and do you have to be out a certain amount before you can be reactivated?

No benefit to putting Brown on the IR since he was already on PUP. Tim Hightower, however, might be an excellent candidate, espeically if he was looking at being inactive the first few weeks.

It is only 1 slot per team and it is for 8 weeks.

I think they over reacted to Gibbs stashing guys on IR. Two would be a better number but it is a start.
