Maryland moved into the finals of the Paradise Jam tournament with an 80-66 win over Northern Iowa, Sunday night in the Virgin Islands. Evan Smotrycz leading all scorers with a career high 20 points.

The Terrapins used a balanced scoring attack with starters Jake Layman, Nick Faust and Dez Wells scoring 19, 17 and 16 points respectively. Center Shaq Cleare didn’t take a shot, but was plagued by four quick fouls. Following the disappointing loss to Oregon State on national TV last Sunday, the win was big for coach Mark Turgeon’s young squad.

In case you were wondering, plenty of time for a little R & R on their way to the championship game on Monday night!
