The Washington Capitals have resigned F Marcus Johansson to a two-year deal worth $4 million. The deal was expected to get done before the Caps entered training camp next month.

Johansson, who was Washington’s 2009 first round pick, just finished his entry level deal. Given the $2 million cap hit, it is a fair deal for both sides. Johansson scored 6 goals and added 16 assists in the 48 game shortened season last year. His deal is considered a “bridge deal” to get him to where he will be arbitration eligible at the mend of his new contract. Johansson’s deal was the last of the Caps restricted free agents.

Caps enter training camp in less than a month, starting on October 3rd.
