Washington Redskins free agent OLB Brian Orakpo has been named to the 2014 NFL Pro Bowl as a replacement for LB Ahmad Brooks of the San Francisco 49ers, who was originally chosen ahead of Orakpo.

In 15 games this past season, Orakpo, 27, finished with 43 solo tackles, a team-high 10 QB sacks, and one interception, which he returned 29 yards for a touchdown.

Orakpo joins two other Redskins on the Pro Bowl rosters, RB Alfred Morris and LT Trent Williams. Only Williams was chosen as an original member of the teams.

Orakpo is likely to be the first-or-second-most sought-after free agent linebacker in free agency this season and with about half of all NFL teams using a 3-4 defense, there will be plenty of bidders for his services. Advanced NFL Stats pegged Orakpo as the 11th-most productive linebacker in the NFL in 2013, while Football Outsiders also regards him as one of the top outside pass rushers in the league. Pro Football Focus ranked Orakpo as the 5th-best pass rusher in 2013, behind only Buffalo’s Jerry Hughes, Baltimore’s Elvis Dumervil and Justin Houston and Tamba Hali of the Chiefs. PFF counted 11 sacks, 11 quarterback hits and 29 hurries for 51 total quarterback pressures last season.
