Redskins sign Beck to 2-year contract

AUTHOR: | IN: Contracts | COMMENTS: None Yet |

Redskins QB John Beck, who was acquired in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens soon after the start of training camp, has signed a 2-year contract extension with the Redskins, keeping him in Washington for 3 more years at a price of $3.35 million. The extension itself is worth $2.25 million and beat reporter Rich Campbell writes that the deal was signed last week. Beck’s base salary in 2010 is reduced to $600,000, a deal he would make in return for more guaranteed money later.

Obviously, this is good news for Beck, who was liked by Head Coach Mike Shanahan when he came out of BYU. It’s not a good sign for Richard Bartel, though, who has been vying with Beck for the 3rd QB spot on the team. Both are expected to appear in tomorrow night’s game in Arizona against the Cardinals.
