Wizards = Redskins

Because there is no reason for D.C. to be home to only one pro team that is 2-6 and can’t get out of its own way on offense, the Wizards dropped their 5th straight tonight, 90-76 in Miami. The Miami Heat Dwyane Wade scored 40 points and the Heat 49-27 in the second half. Wade outscored the Wizards all by himself in the second half, 29-27. [In case you wondered if Wade is better than the entire Wizards team, now you know.]

For a 5th straight game, the Wizards had more turnovers [22] than assists [16] and 12 of those turnovers were committed by Gilbert Arenas, a new career high. For the 5th straight game the Wizards couldn’t score more than 90 points.

The game fell apart for the Wiz in the 3rd quarter, when an 11-point lead turned into a 3- point deficit. Arenas had 7 turnovers in the 3rd quarter alone. In the 4th quarter, the Heat finished with a 19-3 run to turn a close game into another embarrassing blowout loss for Washington.

Randy Foye became the latest Wizard to suffer an injury, leaving the game early with a sprained ankle.

More tomorrow, but consider this: Which DC pro sports team is worse: the Redskins or the Wizards? Right now, they look a lot alike. Both can’t score, both lose a lot and both have a cap number that can’t be justified by anything you see on the court.
