Caron Butler injured his left knee in the first half of Friday’s night’s game in Atlanta. Butler did not come out with the team for the second half and Nick Young replaced him in the starting lineup. It is not immediately clear how serious the injury to Butler is.
The Wizards picked up the option year on the contracts of Nick Young and Javale McGee. That means that unless the players are traded, they will be with the team through the 2010-11 season. The Wizards declined to pick up the option year on injured point guard Javaris Crittenton, who will now become a free agent at the end of this season.
Young will make $2.63 million next year and McGee will earn $1.6 million. Young started all 82 games last year and averaged 10.9 ppg. McGee averaged 6.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg and 1 bpg.
