01. Indianapolis Colts [5-0]: Peyton Manning has 5 300-yard passing games this year and has only been sacked twice.
02. New Orleans Saints [5-0]: Drew Brees is leading the NFL in passer rating and the Saints are averaging over 38 points a game, easily the best in the league.
03. Minnesota Vikings [6-0]: Combo of Brett Favre [3rd in passer rating] and rushing leader Adrian Peterson has Vikes 2nd in scoring.
04. Denver Broncos [6-0]: Against all the odds, this is the best defensive team in the league, led by future Hall of Famer Champ Bailey.
05. New York Giants [5-1]: Don’t worry, Giants fans, you won’t have to face Drew Brees again until the playoffs.
06. New England Patriots [4-2]: Someone needs to beat these guys by 50 points so they can see what it feels like.
07. Atlanta Falcons [4-1]: They need to play better defense to be an elite team.
08. Pittsburgh Steelers [4-2]: Ben Roethlisberger leads the NFL in passing yards — these are not your father’s Steelers.
09. Baltimore Ravens [3-3]: Losses to three strong team will probably make the Ravens more dangerous in December.
10. Green Bay Packers [3-2]:A team with a lot of potential, but the worst offensive line in football will be their undoing.
11. Philadelphia Eagles [3-2]:Inexcusable loss to the Raiders will be followed up with a royal beat-down of division rival Redskins.
12. Cincinnati Bengals [4-2]: Just when you start to believe in these guys…
13. Dallas Cowboys [3-2]: Time for these guys to get a quality win.
14. Chicago Bears [3-2]: Two starting linebackers lost to injury.
15. Arizona Cardinals [3-2]: Probably still the best team in a bad division.
16. San Francisco 49ers [3-2]: Must stay close in all games because they don’t have the firepower to mount a comeback against anyone.
17. Miami Dolphins [2-3]: NFL snobs should stop referring to the Wildcat as a gimmick offense. When the Dolphins run it it’s not a gimmick, it’s a winner.
18. New York Jets [3-3]: The magical start is over and the reality of a rookie QB with twice as many picks as TDs is starting to sink in.
19. Houston Texans [3-3]: Capable of beating almost anyone one week, they will almost certainly lose to almost anyone the next week.
20. San Diego Chargers [2-4]: How much longer will management permit this team to under-perform?
21. Seattle Seahawks [2-4]: Matt Hasselbeck is pretty good but he needs a decent running game.
22. Jacksonville Jaguars [3-3]: Los Angeles Jaguars? That doesn’t sound too bad.
23. Carolina Panthers [2-4]: How could management go into this season without a serviceable backup for Jake Delhomme?
24. Oakland Raiders [2-4]: Like the Bermuda Triangle, the win over the Eagles is one of those freakish acts of nature that cannot be explained by modern science.
25. Buffalo Bills [2-4]: San Fran, Philly and Dallas starting to look pretty good to T.O.
26. Kansas City Chiefs [1-5]: Petition to move into whatever division the Redskins are in unlikely to be granted by NFL Competition Committee.
27. Detroit Lions [1-5]: Hard to believe, but this team is worse without its rookie quarterback.
28. Washington Redskins [2-4]: A national punchline in the nation’s capital.
29. Cleveland Browns [1-5]: Only the Raiders are worse at quarterback than the Browns.
30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers [0-6]: Looking forward to yet another first overall pick.
31. Tennessee Titans [0-6]: How did this team go from best defense in 2008 to worst in 2009? Was it really all about Jim Schwartz and Albert Haynesworth? And if so, what does that say for Jeff Fisher?
32. St. Louis Rams [0-6]: Haven’t won in a calendar year.
