Comments Vinny Cerrato made that we are commenting on come Via the DC Sports Bog
There are times when a guy like Vinny Cerrato speaks that you just let it go. Then there are times he says stuff that juts raises your ire. So you feel you need to respond. This is the case here. And surprisingly, Vinny is miffed at the media.
But too bad. The media is kicking Vinny’s ass and he doesn’t appreciate it.
“When you’re winning, if you’re 4-1, they’re looking for feel-good
stories. Now, it’s like the vultures, they’re circling, and they’re
waiting for the dead body. I mean, that’s what it feels like here, just
like Kill Kill Kill is what it feels like. And, I mean, we’re
frustrated, because you lost a game that you were winning 17-2, you
lost to Detroit. I mean, absolutely you’re frustrated, and you feel it.
Like we talked about, what cures that? Is to go out Sunday and play a
good game, score points, feel good about it, and then you come back in,
it’s a whole different attitude the following week.”
Listen Vinny, the Vulture has not been circling like they have this season over the past few seasons. Don’t act like the Media and Blogs are picking on you because of one bad season. Ok, this has been ten years in the making. This is ten years of incompetent front office decision making. Ten years of an egotistical, arrogant owner who thinks he can get the team over a hump by throwing money around aimlessly with no plan. Ten years of poor and at best suspect drafting. Ten years of no competition in the NFC East, no taste of the NFC Conference Championship, and no whiff of a Super bowl appearance. Ten years of treating our beloved franchise like a horrible fantasy football dream.
Yeah Vinny, this goes beyond one year of losing. This goes to a decade of losing, directed by yourself and Dan Snyder. So if the vultures truly are circling, cheers to them!
“So then you know, Batiste went in and competed and played hard, and
had to do some things to help. And they competed. They played hard. Is
it what we wanted? No. But you know, he did his best that he could in
there.“And the reason you don’t want to lose your Pro Bowl left tackle, because the difference between your Pro Bowl left tackle and WHOEVER has to come in, ANYWHERE in the league, who’s replacing a Pro Bowl guy, is not a Pro Bowl guy. So there’s a total difference.
You are right Vinny. Batiste did do the best he could, which if you didn’t notice, wasn’t really good at all. That goes back to you. Not only was the offensive line aging and a bit banged up, and yes, Samuels and Thomas were banged up in the off-season, and not only did you fail to address a gaping hole at right tackle, but you added very poor depth to the Line. Given the age and injury history, you think you would have addressed depth. Given the disaster at RT last year, you think you would have addressed it.
As far as the second part of that quote, need I say more. Fact is, with an aging line that has had health issues, if Cerrato really, honestly thought the offensive line was going to make it through the year healthy, well, don’t you have to then question his competency? Almost every fan could have predicted Randy Thomas would not have finished the season. Almost every fan could have predicted Samuels would be banged up. There is a history here Vinny. Have you not paid attention. My bet is, especially on the Samuels side, you know, protecting the blindside of your QB, my bet is, most teams probably have a bit better reserve than we do. Like, a draft pick. Oh wait, we don’t draft Lineman.
Sorry Vinny, as bad as the offensive line was last season, as bad as the depth was last season, and to see very little to no improvement, Vinny, if there was such a thing, you would be guilty of front office malpractice.
“I mean, we’ve got to do that. I mean, because it’s been like 14 games
now, and I think we’re averaging 14.6 points a game, and that is not
good. That is NOT good.”
Ok, wait. Vinny I hope you know you are a horrible witness for yourself. So you are saying this crappy offense goes back 14 games. 14 Games!!! You mean going back to last year? Is that what you are saying Vinny?
So your response is to spend $156 million on, ummmmm, DEFENSE???
