But you knew that already, of course. Here’s our latest evidence.
The corpulent, pill-popping right-wing radio talker recently used blatantly racial language [again] on his radio show, this time to nonsensically attack the NBA. It’s not the first time Limbaugh has done this sort of thing. Back in 2002, he was forced to resign from his position at ESPN, after only a few weeks, when he made a racist and absurd allegation about the media and QB Donovan McNabb.
He has previously said this about the NBA: “It’s time to get rid of this whole National
Basketball Association. Call it the TBA, the Thug Basketball
Association, and stop calling ‘em teams. Call ‘em gangs.” On October 7 Rush Limbaugh said on his hugely popular radio show that basketball is “the favorite sport of gangs.”
I don’t know how Limbaugh knows this or why he would say something like that if it isn’t racism. No other explanation makes sense. No wonder the NFL Players Association opposes Mr Limbaugh becoming the part-owner of any NFL team.
Defending NBA players from allegations of thuggery is a thankless task. Most NBA players, the vast majority, a law-abiding citizens and not thugs at all. None of that should need to be expressed. I could go on about all the good things done by NBA players, but I’ll just cut it short and mention how Kevin Garnett donated over $1 million to build homes for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
And last I checked, the NFL has had plenty of problems with player [and now coach] misconduct. But Limbaugh wants to buy into that league. Hmmmm.

I think you’re a little off base Spence.
Please explain how Rush Dopebaugh’s comments were racist? After all, gangs aren’t only the province of one racial group. There are white gangs
(i.e. The Mafia, Russian mafia, Skinheads, Aryan Nation, KKK, The Westboro Baptist Church, among others) just as there are black, asian, latino, etc. gangs. Gangs, like crime in general, exists to some degree in all racial groups.
I actually detest the guy and think he’s a complete waste as a human being and he’s certainly made a comment that all NBA players should find offensive. However, I think we should be accurate when we criticize people for what they say and in this case his comments weren’t racist, just incredibly stupid and inaccurate.
