Redskins hire Sherman Lewis to tinker with offense
AUTHOR: dcprosportsreport | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: |
In a move reminiscent of when Dan Snyder brought in Bill Arnsparger to “consult” about the defense, the Redskins have hired Sherman Lewis, former offensive coordinator for Mike Holmgren in Green Bay, to consult about the offense. Lewis has decades of experience in the NFL and particular experience with the west coast offense the Redskins are currently using under Head Coach Jim Zorn, who was the QB coach for Holmgren in Seattle.
Naturally, this will be billed at Redskins Park as something Zorn wanted. Perhaps they’ll even claim it was Zorn’s idea. That’s hard to believe, though, as coaches almost never welcome advice in the middle of the season from someone who hasn’t been with the team since the beginning of training camp at the very least.
This looks like a panic move to me, probably forced on Zorn by Snyder and Vinny Cerrato.
