Redskins Thumbs up and Thumbs down

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet |

thumbsupdown.jpgWe give two THUMBS UP and two THUMBS DOWN to the players we felt made a difference for the good or the bad.  It is our subjective opinion, shares your with us by hitting discuss below the post.

THUMBS UP

S Reed Doughty.  Why?  Doughty was all over the field today and making tackles left and right.  He certainly is a sure tackler.  Doughty ended the game with 10 tackles and 1 assist.  This is good news for the Redskins because both Doughty and Chris Horton played well today, Horton gaining the all important game ending fumble recovery caused by rookie DE Jeremy Jarmon.  With these two pushing each other game in and game out, the benefactors will be the Redskins defense.  And it has.  I love the intensity and vision Doughty brought to the field today.  He came to play and make a statement and he did just that.

RB Clinton Portis.  Why?  There has been no blog more critical of Clinton Portis than DCPSR.  Deservingly so.  But Portis came to play today, ran hard,  and made some nice gains out of nothing.  He was also fired up on the sidelines.  That is something this team needs, a leader, and Clinton Portis was that today.  He was the workhorse we remember, rushing 25 times for a hard earned 98 yards.

Honorable Mentions:  DE Jeremy Jarmon, CB Justin Tryon, De Andre Carter, WR Santana Moss, and TE Chris Cooley.

THUMBS DOWN

TE Todd Yoder:  Why?  Dude, one of your primary jobs is simply to block on extra points.  Not like you see a ton of field time.  Yoder blew a block that allowed the extra point to be blocked, the first time in 91 Redskins extra points, season 2003.

QB Jason Campbell:  Why?  Simple.  Three interceptions.  Campbell started out pretty rough.  Had a miserable first half.  Then he heated up in the second half and threw two TD passes, one to Chris Cooley and one to Santana Moss.  It was truly exhilarating to see the Redskins take a shot deep.  But, for DCPSR, when you throw 3 interceptions you are getting a thumbs down from us.

Dishonorable Mention:  CB Carlos Rogers.  Another easy pick, Another drop.
