Quick Game Peak: The Washington Capitals scored early, scored often, and routed the Chicago Blackhawks 6-2 to improve to 3-1 in the preseason. Chalk the scoring mainly up to the start studded Line 1. The season opener is just 7 days away and the Caps chief line, Line 1, appears to be more than ready to go. Line 1, Alexander Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, and Mike Knuble, were responsible for 5 of the 6 Caps goals. Mike Knuble scored 2 goals in the first period, followed by 2 in the second from Alex Ovechkin and 1 from Nicklas Backstrom in the second to lift the Caps to the win. Tyler Sloan added the 6th goal near the end of the second period.
Semyon Varlamov had a fine night in goal, putting in some nifty, solid goal tending in the third period as Chicago tried to claw its way back into the game, out shooting the caps 13-5. Varlamov denied the ‘Hawks stopping all 13 int he third period and gained an impressive win, stopping 26 of 28 total shots. He continues to battle Jose Theodore for the starting job.

We are Nylandered out.
