This is the 6th year of the DC Pro Sports Report post-game Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down. We award ONLY TWO each. They do not necessarily go to the best player, but to players we think made a difference, two to the good, two to the bad, or made valiant efforts, or awful efforts. Again, we ONLY award 2 THUMBS up, and two THUMBS down.
THUMBS UP:
WR Antawaan Randle El: Why? He was the only wide out that came tO play football. One reason is, the Redskins are finally utilizing Randle El as they should have the whole time he was in DC, a slot receiver. That is what made him good in Pittsburgh. As a slot receiver, Randle El gets in defensive mismatches and the result was 7 receptions for 98 yards. Randle El played a fine game today.
P Hunter Smith: Why? What a fake. He could have throw to Fred Davis, but Smith saw the opening and realized Davis was there to throw the block. Great play, great fake, well designed, and well executed.
Honorable Mentions: Chris Cooley and London Fletcher.
THUMBS DOWN:
HC Jim Zorn: Why? This team came out the first half completely unprepared and allowed the Giants to get into their head. That’s coaching. Zorn was significantly out coached in the first half and he was unable to get his team’s head back into the game until the second half when they already had a significant deficit against a team that is not easy to come back against.
WR Santana Moss: Why? He lost his cool early and never got his game on. He simply did not get open. Moss, the Redskins star receiver, managed just 2 catches for 6 yards. Bad for the redskins. Bad for fantasy football owners that started him. The Giants secondary was beat up and battered, yet Moss managed 6 yards of offense. That is down right awful.
Dishonorable Mention: Jason Campell and Laron Landry
