Redskins start familiar, Lose to the Giants

The Washington Redskins came out as flat as flat gets.  Pretty pathetic start to a game, pretty pathetic start to a season.

The Redskins defense, supposedly a Top 5 defense, looked pretty poor today, as the Giants offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage.  The Redskins did not score an offensive touchdown until 1 minute and 30 seconds left int he game.  The only other Redskins TD came on a fake punt and a run in for a TD by Punter Hunter Smith.

The Redskins receiver, minus slot receiver Antawaan Randle El, were non-existent. Malcolm Kelly caught just one pass.  Devin Thomas caught none.  But even worse, starting receiver Santana Moss caught just 2 passes for 6 yards.  Pathetic.

Randle El actually showed up catching 7 passes for 98 yards.  Chris Cooley caught 7 passes for 68 yards and a TD at the end.  Jason Campbell was 19 for 26 for 211 yards.

London Fletcher had 17 tackles, 11 solo and 7 assists.  DeAngelo Hall had a tip interception from Laron Landry.  The defense managed 2 turnovers.

Redskins fall to Giants 23-17.  They can be thankful they did not get blown out considering they were trailing 17-0 and the offense was pretty much inept for much of the game.
