Talking with the Enemy: New England Patriots

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet |

We asked NE Patriots Draft.com 5 questions about the Patriots leading up to the third preseason week and these are the answers we got. Enjoy.

Q1.  What is the biggest Patriots Training camp battle?
A1. We feel that the best competition has been in the defensive backfield.  With James Sanders, Brandon Meriweather, and newcomer Patrick Chung vying for 2 safety spots, and the plethora of options at corner, the battle has been pretty exciting.

Q2.  Who has been the biggest surprise in training camp this season?

A2. Julian Edelman is definitely the biggest surprise.  While calling him Wes Welker II might be a bit premature, he has that kind of ability.

Q3.  What’s going to happen to the New England 2009 draft class?

A3. I expect a few of the draft class to get cut or put on the practice squad, but not because of what they did, their position is just stacked.  Darryl Richard hasn’t looked bad, but he isn’t beating out the top 7 or 8 guys on the D-line.  In similar positions are George Bussey and Jake Ingram.

Q4. How will Tom Brady play in 2009?

A4. After what happened last year, I definitely won’t be traveling the 2000 miles for the home opener again — I think I was bad luck.  With regards to 2009 though, I don’t predict any physical limitations to Brady — he wasn’t that gifted with his legs in the first place. Mentally, we will see, but I have no doubt that Brady is ready to go 100%

Q5. How long have you had NE Patriots Draft?  Tell us a little about your site.

A5. NE Patriots Draft was created in February of 2008, as a way to talk about the NFL Draft with Patriot and other NFL team fans.  Much like your amazing Mock Draft Database, we take pride in being the best place to go on the internet for Undrafted Free Agent information right after the draft ends.  That page alone has introduced over a quarter of a million people to whatnepatriotsdraft.com can offer.

Thanks to NE Patriots Draft.com for their participation and thoughtful answers. We will be answering some of their questions and we will post that tomorrow. Let’s hope preseason game 3 is a healthy one for both the Redskins and the Patriots.
