Back to normal for the Nats, Zimmerman and Guzman extend hitting streaks

Well, the trip was fun.  But, back the Nationals are back to normal, spinning from an 8 game winning streak to a now 2 game losing streak.  Good starting pitching, sporadic bats, and a bullpen that blows it.  Ahhhh, the normalcy of Nats baseball.   Did Tim Brown at Yahoo Sports really fall for the 8 game streak?  He must have, he moved the Nats out of the cellar.

Last night, the Nationals got a solid start from rookie starter Craig Stammen, who gave up 2 solo home runs, but left the game with a 2-2 tie.  Stammen threw 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits with 3 strikeouts.  An otherwise consistent Jorge Sosa out of the bullpen proved that he can be inconsistent as well, taking the loss.  As for Sosa, ummm, Steve McCatty needs to get Sosa off of depending on his slower slider and get him back to throwing the fast ball.

Sean Burnett fared even worse.  Brunett allowed 3 runs and 2 walks in 1 inning.  The otherwise strong bullpen efforts that Nats have been getting, faltered last night.

Offensively, we do have somethign to talk about. Ryan Zimmerman went 1 for 3 and extended his hitting streak to 15 games.  Christian Guzman went 1 for 4 and extended his hitting streak to 17 games.  Meanwhile Nyjer Morgan follows a bit behind but went 2 for 4 and extended his streak to 7 games.  HEY!  At least it is something to talk about.
