This is a tad ominous. While Redskins Head Coach Jim Zorn is saying the team isn’t interested in Michael Vick right now, he isn’t ruling anything out in the near or distant future.
“Well,
I think Michael’s on his journey. … I want to wish the best for him. I
think there’s a way that he and Roger Goodell have created to find his
way back into the league,” Zorn said, a day before Washington’s first
practice of training camp. “I would just say it won’t be with us, at
least at this juncture.”
…
Because of his use of the phrase,
“at this juncture,” Zorn was asked whether he thinks Washington ever
would seek to add Vick down the road.“I don’t know that,” the coach said. “It depends on how many years he’s going to be in the league.”
I’m
not sure what Zorn is up to here, but I’d bet a week’s wages that he
doesn’t want Vick and the associated drama on his team. And I’ll bet he
doesn’t consider Vick’s passing style a good fit with his offense. But
Zorn might be gone if he doesn’t improve on an 8-8 record this season
and we all know owner Dan Snyder isn’t President of the Jason
Campbell Fan Club. Further, we know that Dan Snyder loves making
splashy player acquisitions, even if they make absolutely no football
sense.
“At the juncture…” Am I reading too much into this? I hope so.
